Dyesebel stands as a pivotal figure in Philippine comic book history, originating from the creative mind of Filipino illustrator Mars Ravelo. Lucia, Dyesebel’s mother, developed a fascination for artistic portrayals of mermaids during pregnancy, leading to Dyesebel being born with what appeared to be a fishtail instead of legs. Dyesebel made her debut in comics in 1952.
